New Year, New ME!
How many of us have said this to ourselves with the ushering in of a new year and resolutions? Fact is, in order to break old habits, we have to slowly introduce new things in small bite-size chunks that allow us to feel accomplishments along the way. We have to allow ourselves space to learn and un-learn. To fuck up and get back on track without a whole dialogue around guilt, fear or discouragement.
Ayurveda teaches us that doing seasonal cleanses is good for our body, as a way to rid toxins and fortify our insides, based on what is happening in our surroundings. Our Fall Soup Cleanse was so special. With folks from across the states taking part, cooking their own soups and offering feedback and support to each other in our weekend, 3-day cleanse.
The holidays will be behind us and we will all be looking to jump start our New Year's Resolutions. Also, entering Kapha Season, some of us will have already gotten sick once or feel like it's on the horizon. Join the Roots Healing community in our winter soup cleanse to combine both your motivation to reclaim your health and embark on creating new habits.
Think of this winter soup cleanse as a helpful fortification of our systems. However, if you're anything like me, doing any type of cleanse is easier when you're doing it with others. It helps to keep you accountable and it's nice to have the moral support when the hanger kicks in!
The winter soup cleanse focuses on preserving our energy levels and supporting our immune system. You're probably wondering why soup? Well, simply put, in the eyes of Ayurveda juice cleanses are not good for our system. Plus if you remember what we said about Kapha season and it's qualities, the last thing we want is to introduce cold, moist drinks into our system. If I'm being completely honest, I just don't have enough time to craft my own soup recipes and searched high and low for the perfect soup cleanse recipe book that understood the principles of Ayurveda. I love my soupelina's soup cleanse recipe book by Elina Fuhrman for this reason.
If you want to be a part of the cleanse happening the weekend of January 4th, all you have to do is sign up here to let me know you're down! Doesn't matter where you are physically located, it's all going down virtually. I will send out the ingredients list to the group along with all the recipes. All you have to do is buy your stuff, make your soup and share your experience with everyone else in the group online!
The soup cleanse consists of five different soups a day for three days. You can do five days, but we'll keep it light. The soups are:
- Oh Dhal-ing! - a yummy and hearty soup for breakfast.
- Magic Tumeric Broth for a delicious mid-morning snack.
- I Don't Carrot All What They Say - a spicy, delectable nutritious soup for lunch.
- Pho Sho for a scrumptous mid-afternoon snack.
- I Gotcha Kabocha Covered - an appetizing kabocha squash soup for dinner.
Seriously, these soups are so good, it's hard to believe you're cleansing! If you don't believe me, don't take my word - just read what someone had to say about our Fall Cleanse!
"The soup cleanse was exactly the reset my system needed. Though it wasn't exactly easy, it was more effective at solving my GI issues than anything else. Since the cleanse, I've found myself taking a more thoughtful approach to my cravings and the food I eat. I'm looking forward to making it a regular part of my seasonal routine." - Fall Soup Cleanse participant.
